ED3 Earns 2026 Tree Line USA Recognition

Electrical District No. 3 (ED3) has been recognized by the Arbor Day Foundation as a 2026 Tree Line USA utility for its exemplary commitment to urban forestry in its service to the community.

The Tree Line USA program honors electric utilities that implement industry-leading practices to protect and enhance America's urban tree canopy. This collaborative initiative between the Arbor Day Foundation and the National Association of State Foresters promotes the dual goals of delivering safe, reliable electricity while fostering healthy community forests. Through this recognition program, utilities demonstrate their commitment to environmental stewardship while maintaining critical infrastructure. The partnership highlights how responsible tree management near power lines can benefit both utility operations and the communities they serve.

To achieve this recognition, ED3 demonstrated excellence in five critical areas: implementation of quality tree care practices, annual specialized training for workers, strategic tree planting and community education initiatives, development of a formal tree-based energy conservation program, and active sponsorship or participation in Arbor Day celebrations.

This recognition brings tangible benefits to both ED3 and the community it serves. The utility experiences reduced line clearance costs through proper pruning techniques, while customers enjoy more reliable service. Properly maintained trees develop healthier root systems that resist decay and structural weakness, resulting in fewer downed power lines during storms.
