Electrical District No. 3 (ED3) is pleased to announce that the Moonlight Substation project, located along Highway 238, is now under construction. The project will help meet the growing energy needs in the northwestern part of Maricopa and also provides reliability benefits to allow for better distribution of loads between substations. ED3 has been working on this project for a few years and the large transformers and switchgear were ordered in 2024. Substantial completion of the project is anticipated by year-end 2025.
