Electrical District No. 3 Receives Earth Day Proclamation from City of Maricopa

Celebrates 100 Years of Service with Commitment to Renewable Energy and Innovation

MARICOPA, AZ — Electrical District No. 3 (ED3) is proud to announce it has received an Earth Day proclamation from the City of Maricopa, recognizing the district’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, reliable electric service, and community partnership. The proclamation highlights the importance of collaboration between public power utilities and local governments in advancing sustainability and supporting the region’s continued growth.

The recognition comes as ED3 approaches a historic milestone—its 100th anniversary in 2026. For a century, ED3 has delivered dependable, affordable electric service to its customers while supporting agricultural, residential, and commercial development across the region. As the district looks ahead to its next century of service, it is focused on building a resilient and forward-looking energy portfolio.

As part of its 100-year goals, ED3 is adding 100 megawatts of new renewable solar resources and investing in advanced technologies such as battery energy storage. These initiatives are designed to enhance grid reliability, improve operational flexibility, and support cleaner energy solutions while maintaining cost-effective service for customers.
